Jaycee Choi

Welcome!! I'm Jaycee (Jessica) Choi — a Genetics PhD candidate at Tufts University's Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and a Predoctoral Associate at The Jackson Laboratory, where I work in Vivek Kumar's lab.

My current research focuses on assessing cognitive function and behavior in mice using machine learning and computer vision. I'm especially interested in building tools that let us study animals in more naturalistic settings — tracking posture and behavior over time to better understand things like homeostatic regulation, cognitive decline, and aging.

Before starting my PhD, I studied Biological Sciences (B.S.) at La Sierra University from 2017 to 2021. While there, I did undergraduate research with Dr. Nathan Sutter on SINE retrotransposons in the dog genome. I also TA'd for multiple science courses, including the SEA-PHAGES bacteriophage class from 2018 to 2020 after taking it myself as a freshman.
