Co-Hosting a Raspberry Pi Workshop for the Tufts Computational Biology Club

I co-hosted a Raspberry Pi workshop for the Tufts Computational Biology Club, held on April 17, 2025 with both an in-person option in Bar Harbor and a virtual option over Zoom.
The workshop introduced the Raspberry Pi (mini-computer!) and walked through how it can be used for everything from home automation and DIY electronics to collecting data for biomedical research, like recording mouse behavior with a mini camera or logging temperature and humidity in an experiment. We covered the basics of getting started, how the Pi interacts with sensors and other devices, and how these ideas could translate to computational biology and neuroscience research.
It was a lot of fun getting hands-on with the hardware alongside club members of all skill levels, and a lot of people left the workshop with personal and research projects in mind!
